Your appointment is reserved specifically for you. If you are unable to attend a session, please make sure you cancel at least 24 hours in advance to avoid a $75 late cancellation fee.

Do you work with children, teens or families?

In addition to working with individual adults, I work with tweens, teens and families. I do not work with children under the age of 10 years.

What is a free initial phone consultation?

The 15-minute phone consultation is an opportunity for me to know what is happening in your life that is leading you to seek therapy, how long you have experienced the problem, what you want to be different or better, and how committed you are in making that happen.

I will also tell you my approach in providing therapy services. Together we can then make an informed decision on whether we would be a good fit to work together.

What should I expect in the first session?

The first visit is an opportunity to review information, including policies, answer any questions you may have and get to know each other. In becoming better acquainted, we would discuss your past therapy experience(s), if any, to understand what you liked, disliked, found helpful and/or unhelpful, your expectations and goals for therapy.

I would be interested in learning of your expectations, goals for therapy, and what is going on in and about you outside of the problem as well as learning more about the problem that is bringing you to therapy.

Why might I need therapy?

Something has happened in your life, a change is needed, and what you have been doing is not working or has stopped working. You want to find a way to move from what you are experiencing to where you want to go.

Do you work with people from diverse backgrounds, races, ethnicities, religious traditions, gender, sexuality, etc.?

Yes, I do. I believe in acknowledging and appreciating our similarities and differences. I welcome and affirm clients of all genders, faiths, races, ethnicities, nationalities, socio-economic backgrounds and sexual orientations.

How long does therapy take?

For each client, the time varies. Generally, therapy is most effective in the first six months of sessions. However, sometimes you see a benefit after the first session or no benefit until the first year. This is because each person’s experience in therapy is different.

How do you pronounce your name?

A young client of mine gave me the best way to describe how to pronounce my first name “Ajuu.” She rightfully said it rhymes with the sound of a sneeze, ‘Achoo!’ For my last name, the first letter, ‘N’, is silent. So, it is pronounced ‘Wogu.’
